Chapter 13

"Who the hell approved this stupid question?" Alpha Damien growled in a low voice, his eyes sharp enough to tear apart the entire recording studio.

Beta Marcus trembled as he replied, "The PR department provided a unified script. Clarissa also signed a cooperation agreement. She suggested using this opportunity to completely stabilize the pack's reputation..."

Alpha Damien's eyes darkened as he clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white. He let out a cold laugh.

"Fine, you wanted me to cooperate with the interview, and I did. Now can I go find Seraphina?!"

Beta Marcus hesitated, "The reporters are swarming outside. The entire building is surrounded. It wouldn't be convenient for you to leave right now..."

"Have them clear the area."

"I'm afraid that's not possible," Marcus added quietly, "Many of them are media outlets arranged by Matriarch Isolde. If you leave now, it will only cause bigger controversy..."

Alpha Damien shot him a cold glance.

He lowered his head and rubbed his temples, exhaustion and irritation filling his eyes.

He knew I must be watching that interview.

What would I be thinking right now?

Would I think he had betrayed me again?

Would I give up on him completely again?

He irritably loosened his tie and sat on the sofa with his eyes closed.

Ever since the day I left, he had been dreaming of me almost every night.

He dreamed of me curled up on the healing ward bed, secretly wiping away tears. He dreamed of me reaching out to touch him gently, then pulling my hand back.

It had been so many days, and I still hadn't come to him. He realized I might really be letting him go.

He knew you couldn't drag out matters of the heart. If you waited too long, it would truly be over.

He couldn't let me go.

How could he let me go?

After all these years together, even if no one else saw it, he remembered clearly all the bonds between us, all my love and patience.

But he had realized his mistake too late.

Now he didn't even have a chance to explain, and his family had trapped him here with no way out!

Alpha Damien was starting to sense something was wrong. In the past, when they faced online scandals like this, the Blackmoon Pack wouldn't have handled it so clumsily.

This time, someone was definitely pulling strings behind the scenes.

But he had called several of his enemies to investigate, and still couldn't find the real culprit.

He cursed under his breath and threw his phone onto the sofa.

Beta Marcus didn't dare say a word.

It had been a whole week, and Alpha Damien still wasn't allowed to look for me. He grew more and more agitated.

Now all his actions were under Former Alpha Alaric's surveillance. It was suffocating.

He still couldn't reach me, and it was driving him crazy.

Alpha Damien began to recall the scene at the marketplace that day.

When I fell to the ground, my face was pale, my eyes empty, helpless yet restrained.

He had asked around and learned that I was in the healing ward and had been mentally unstable for a while.

When he tried to find out more, he hit a dead end.

Just like that, I had completely disappeared from his world.

I had once been his secret mate. We had once slept in the same bed. We had almost welcomed a pup together.

Alpha Damien closed his eyes and gripped his temples hard.

A voice in his heart grew louder and louder. This wasn't just "missing me."

He had truly, completely, and uncontrollably fallen in love with me.

This feeling wasn't because of the pup, nor because of duty. It had grown from all those small moments we shared, from all the times I had silently given for him, taking root and growing wild.

He had recognized his own feelings. He desperately wanted to find me, to explain everything, to tell me he loved me.

But he couldn't do anything.

Clarissa had tried to see him many times, but he didn't want to meet her even once.

But today, she finally couldn't help herself and came to his door.

As night was falling, Alpha Damien had just finished showering. He walked out of his bedroom wearing casual clothes when he suddenly caught a familiar scent.

He remembered I had used skincare products with this fragrance.
