Chapter 6
Chapter 6
I sat in the living room from midnight to dawn.
My phone buzzed. Two hours until boarding.
I stood up, grabbed my carry-on, and pulled the calendar off the wall. I drew a heavy X through the tenth—the date that was supposed to have been my wedding.
Then I wrote one last sentence underneath it:
Dante, we're done.
I propped the calendar up on the dining table where it couldn't be missed, and walked out of the apartment without looking back.
