Chapter 3

Chapter 3

The laughter and joy from downstairs continued all afternoon until evening, when Alpha Kaelen finally returned to our room.

Looking at the empty room, Kaelen was clearly stunned.

"Why are so many things missing?"

"Decluttering," I replied flatly.

It seemed he had never considered that I might leave. Kaelen quickly moved past this topic.

He frowned and said, "Seraphina, you were really too much just now. Mom only let Elara and them stay because she misses the pup. For the pup's sake, you shouldn't throw tantrums."

I looked at Kaelen with disappointment.

Even now, he was still using our dead daughter as an excuse.

He didn't notice my expression and continued talking.

"Besides, Elara is pregnant now, and you're also expecting. Can't you be more understanding?"

Bitterness spread across my tongue. I bit down hard on my teeth to keep myself from questioning him.

In all the time since I'd returned home, not one person had noticed that my belly had flattened.

Perhaps in this pack house, no one really cared about me or the pup in my womb.

"I don't agree to let her move in."

I roared in a low voice.

Kaelen paused.

Just then, Elara appeared at the doorway.

With tears streaming down her face, she touched her belly and said sadly, "Alpha Kaelen, since Luna Seraphina is so against it, I should just move out."

With that, she turned and walked away, falling hard at the end of the hallway.

Kaelen was already anxious, and seeing Elara fall made him glare at me fiercely.

"Are you satisfied now? If anything happens to Elara's pup, I won't forgive you!"

His voice was full of coldness, yet his movements helping Elara were so careful and gentle.

He picked up Elara and turned to leave.

"Kaelen! If you insist on letting her move in, I'll leave!"

I couldn't help but shout.

Kaelen carried Elara away without looking back. Only his cold voice drifted back.

"You won't. Seraphina, you have nowhere to go."

Watching his cold retreating figure, I laughed through my tears.

Kaelen was certain that I had fallen out with my father and had nowhere to go, so I could only stay with the Blackmoon Pack.

But he didn't know that before coming home, I had already applied for transfer papers. In six more days, I could leave completely.

I began packing my belongings and documents.

Before Kaelen returned, I finalized the agreements once more.

"What's that in your hand?"

Kaelen easily snatched the mate bond severance and Luna resignation agreements from my hands.

My heart jumped, not knowing what to expect.

In a hoarse voice, I said, "Just sign it."

Kaelen paused, preparing to open the documents to look, while still trying to coax me:

"I know what I said earlier was a bit harsh, but I was just too worried. If something happened to Elara at our pack house, your image with Mom would be even worse. Just think of it as praying for our daughter's blessing."

As he spoke, he reached out to touch my belly.

I stiffened and subtly avoided his hand.

Kaelen frowned tightly, seeming to think I was still throwing a tantrum. Just as he was about to say something, his phone suddenly rang.

He quickly answered the call. Through the gap, I saw Elara's name.

Elara on the other end said something tearfully, and Kaelen's expression immediately darkened.

"I'll be right there."

After hanging up, he turned to look at me.

"I won't be coming back tonight. Elara was so frightened by you just now that she's showing signs of miscarriage."

He looked at me with blame and turned to leave.

But I grabbed his sleeve without caring about anything else.

"The documents... aren't signed yet."

Kaelen accused me, "Don't you care about Elara at all?"

I remained silent, only urging him to sign quickly.

The phone rang again. Kaelen finally signed the agreements in his urgency.

He threw the documents at my face like he was venting his anger, saying angrily, "Is that enough?"

I nodded silently.

Watching his departing figure, I felt that the mate bond between Kaelen and me had been completely severed.
