Chapter 8

Chapter 8

"Kaelen, I'm being discharged today. I want to take the pup with us to pick out marking ceremony dresses, okay?"

"Even though this marking ceremony is just your way of compensating me, and it's not real, I still want to treat it seriously."

Just then, Elara's voice suddenly came from behind, completely disrupting Kaelen's train of thought.

He turned around and saw Elara waiting shyly for his response.

Kaelen hesitated for a moment, but finally nodded under Elara's expectant gaze.

Elara happily took out her phone and started selecting boutiques to visit later for marking ceremony attire.

Kaelen stared at his chat history with Seraphina on his phone, frowning deeply.

Finally, he hesitantly tapped the call button.

He thought that no matter what, he and Seraphina were still mates.

Even if Seraphina had done wrong, as her mate, he should be understanding.

With this thought, Kaelen's heart suddenly felt lighter.

He thought he should have done this earlier.

The day she left, he had indeed been too harsh. Maybe when the call went through, he could apologize to Seraphina.

With all their years together, Seraphina would surely forgive him.

A hint of anticipation suddenly rose in Kaelen's heart.

It had been so long since he'd wanted to see Seraphina this much.

While selecting boutiques, Elara glanced at Kaelen.

Seeing the smile on his face, Elara frowned tightly.

Kaelen was definitely thinking about Seraphina!

Despite all her efforts, she still couldn't get Kaelen to officially reject Seraphina as his mate.

She could only be the surface Luna, unable to access the real power of the Blackmoon Pack.

At this thought, Elara gritted her teeth in hatred.

She forced a smile and squeezed in front of Kaelen with her phone.

"Kaelen, what are you looking at?"

"These ceremonial gowns are all beautiful. Can you help me choose which ones to try on later?"

Elara acted coquettishly, holding her phone in front of Kaelen.

A flash of impatience crossed Kaelen's eyes. Right now, he just wanted to talk to Seraphina, not help Elara pick marking ceremony dresses.

He reached out to push Elara aside, but his phone made a sound at that moment.

"Sorry, the number you have dialed is not in service..."

Because they were so close, even Elara heard this message.

Kaelen's eyes widened in disbelief. He never expected that Seraphina's phone would be unreachable!

He frowned deeply and kept redialing Seraphina's number, but each time he only heard a busy tone.

A flash of secret joy crossed Elara's eyes. She suppressed her smile and softened her voice: "Kaelen, Seraphina might really be angry. Should you go back and coax her?"

"Although Seraphina was definitely wrong in this matter, she is your mate after all. If you can't coax her, let me go apologize to Seraphina. As long as she's willing to forgive you, I'll do anything."

"It's just that if Seraphina doesn't learn her lesson this time and doesn't pay any price, I'm really afraid she'll stage another attack."

"If Seraphina attacks me, I really don't mind, but if Seraphina goes after the pup again... what should we do?"

"The pup is still so small."

At this point, tears slowly slid down Elara's face, looking incredibly beautiful.

Kaelen couldn't help but frown.

He sighed and wiped away the tears on Elara's face.

When Elara first mentioned apologizing to Seraphina, Kaelen had been somewhat tempted.

The moment he realized he couldn't contact Seraphina, the panic in his heart could no longer be suppressed.

But as Elara continued speaking, Kaelen gradually sensed something was wrong.

He lowered his eyes, thinking.

If this time he really did what Elara suggested and gave in to Seraphina.

If he kept spoiling Seraphina more and more, what if she really became blinded by jealousy?

If she attacked Elara and her pup again, his mother would definitely not let her off.

Even if he could protect Seraphina, he would have to make more concessions to Elara.

At this thought, Kaelen frowned irritably.

He really couldn't understand how things had gotten to this point.

"No need. You can't apologize to Seraphina. If she really thinks she can do such things without punishment, that would be trouble."

Kaelen suddenly clicked his tongue in annoyance.

He didn't know why, even though he had made the right choice, his heart kept feeling terrible.

"I never thought she could do something so vicious. She's a pregnant she-wolf herself, so how could she attack another pregnant she-wolf?"

"She's really not as sensible as you, Elara!"

Kaelen was almost driven crazy by the growing unease and irritation.

He suppressed all his strange feelings and gently embraced Elara.

"Alright, don't worry about this matter. You're the victim. There's no reason for a victim to apologize to the perpetrator."

Only then did Elara wipe away her tears, leaning weakly against Kaelen and reaching up to embrace his neck.

Her loose hospital gown shifted with her movements, revealing glimpses of her figure.

Elara still wouldn't give up. She tentatively reached up to cup Kaelen's face, trying to kiss him.

Kaelen uncomfortably avoided her, not knowing why he couldn't accept Elara's kisses right now.

But he thought that even though Seraphina had done wrong, she was still his mate.

In the past, his relationship with Elara had happened because of various coincidences.

So from today on, he thought he should maintain his loyalty to Seraphina.

With this thought, he not only avoided Elara's kiss but also placed her back on the bed.

"I'll go handle your discharge. Didn't you want to look at marking ceremony dresses? These things take time, so I'll go take care of it now."

"Also, what happened between us before was all accidental. From now on, we should keep some distance."

After saying this, Kaelen didn't pay attention to Elara's reaction behind him and turned to leave directly.

After Kaelen left, Elara angrily threw the pillow from the hospital bed to the floor.

Her eyes were vicious, wishing she could kill Seraphina directly.

"Damn Seraphina, I should have killed you long ago! How dare you compete with me! Even when you're not here, you still occupy his heart!"

Kaelen really did go handle Elara's discharge.

After leaving the healing den, he took Elara and the pup directly to the boutique for marking ceremony attire.
