Chapter 1
Chapter 1
A month ago, I was accidentally infected with lethal Wolfsbane poison. There is no cure.
My body has been deteriorating day by day. Today, my wolf was completely killed, and my life has entered a three-day countdown.
The day before my death, I agreed to donate my kidney to my sister. My mate was overjoyed, saying he would compensate me later.
When my sister plagiarized my research paper on Moonstone Healing Potions and was condemned on the pack forum, I voluntarily confessed that I was the plagiarist. Mom and Dad were very satisfied, saying I had finally matured.
I finally became the ideal mate and daughter they wanted.
But when I turned into a cold corpse, why did they all cry?
As death approached, I calmly accepted the outcome.
My mate, Alpha Kael, walked up to me with a sorrowful expression.
"Elena, your sister Chloe was born with a weak constitution. She's an Omega with the weakest healing abilities. Now one of her kidneys has failed completely. Only a kidney transplant can save her life."
He pulled out a mate bond dissolution agreement and hesitated for a long time before gritting his teeth and saying,
"Only your kidney is the best match for Chloe. If you refuse to donate your kidney, then we'll sign this mate bond dissolution agreement. Chloe doesn't have much time left. Before she dies, she wants to experience a marking ceremony. The family discussed it and asked me to fulfill her wish."
"I do love you. I'm only doing this to ensure Chloe has no regrets when she dies."
"After she's gone, we'll get back together, okay?"
I stared blankly at the mate bond dissolution agreement in Alpha Kael's hand. Ever since Chloe's kidney failed, the whole family had been hoping I would transplant my kidney to her.
But they didn't know—I only had one kidney left too!
When they heard I refused the kidney transplant, they were utterly disappointed and kept saying I was immature.
"Your sister is dying. She only needs one kidney from you to survive. Elena, you can't just watch your sister die!"
They refused to listen to my explanation and drove me out of the house.
"We don't have such a selfish daughter. Since you won't save your sister, leave this family."
Even my mate wanted me to donate my kidney, or else give up my position as his mate to her.
But now I'm dying anyway. Giving them my kidney doesn't matter anymore.
I spoke flatly,
"I agree to donate to my sister."
Alpha Kael froze, then looked up at me with delight.
"Really? That's wonderful! Chloe won't have to die!"
He tore up the mate bond dissolution agreement and urgently brought me to the healing chamber.
Soon Mom and Dad, who had received the news, rushed over too. Mom hugged my sister emotionally, tears streaming down her face.
"Chloe, you're saved! You won't leave Mommy..."
Dad, afraid I might change my mind at the last minute, quickly had Healer Mara bring out the kidney transplant consent form.
Only after they personally watched me sign the consent form did they say to me with relief,
"Elena, you've finally matured and learned to care for your sister. Don't blame us for being biased. Your sister has suffered too much, which is why her constitution is so poor. She needs us to dote on her. But we won't treat you unfairly either. The inheritance rights that Chloe has, you'll have a share too."
I shook my head, suppressing the bitterness in my heart.
"Give it all to my sister. I won't need it anymore."
Mom paused, then playfully tapped me.
"What nonsense are you talking about? Of course you'll need it. Even though your mate is the most powerful Alpha of the Blood River Pack and can give you a wealthy life, you can't look down on the family's assets!"
My expression became somewhat dazed. Since five years ago, when I didn't show up for Dad's emergency healing ritual and fled at the last moment, and my sister took my place in the ritual circle, how long has it been since my family spoke to me so gently?
Because my sister saved Dad's life, they said I owed Chloe, and I had to treat her unconditionally well.
Since then, they've given everything good to Chloe.
Chloe also began targeting me everywhere, slandering and framing me, making Mom and Dad hate me more and more.
Eventually it evolved into me being wrong no matter what I did.
In the past, I might have argued back, but now I just wearily closed my mouth.
After Mom finished talking to me, she ran to Chloe's side, fussing over her. Dad and Alpha Kael also gathered around. They all surrounded Chloe with concern, like a happy family.
Only I stood alone in the corner, a superfluous outsider.
