Chapter 1

Chapter 1

At a party, my best friend tried to steal my fiancé right in front of me.

"God, Marcus has a great body," Reid said, eyes dragging openly over the man I was engaged to. "If I could marry him, I wouldn't even ask for a settlement. I'd bring my own car as a dowry."

People laughed. It was a joke. Everyone knew it was a joke.

Everyone except Marcus.

He turned to Owen beside him and asked, out of nowhere, "You're almost engaged too, right? What's your girlfriend asking for?"

Owen's mouth curved into a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.

"Nothing," he said. "She's not asking for anything. She offered to bring a car."

That night, Marcus couldn't sit still.

The next morning, he asked to break off our engagement — and went chasing after the friend who'd "flirted" with him at the party.

For a long moment I didn't know whether to be furious or to laugh.

Did he seriously not notice? The friend who'd said all that was Reid Calloway — my gay best friend, who had been in love with men his entire life and simply enjoyed wearing women's clothes.
