Chapter 2

Chapter 2

I ran to the second-floor window, where no one was watching.

I strapped Asher to my back and was about to slide down using bed sheets tied to the window when I heard Cassandra's crisp laughter. I froze instantly.

"Olivia, come out here!" Matthew's voice boomed from outside the door.

Cassandra acted coquettishly at the door. "I'm sorry, Luna, my pup is hungry, but to avoid disrupting the warriors' training, I've already weaned him. Anyway, you still have breast milk, and Matthew said to ask you to help feed my pup."

I opened the door, holding my son Asher. "Matthew, are you really going to watch your pup choke to death? Are you going to turn a blind eye and not save him?"

But Matthew avoided the issue and said coldly, "Olivia, stop making a scene. Cassandra's pup is hungry. Go and nurse him."

I screamed at the top of my lungs, "Matthew, open your eyes and look! That's your own son, and he's dying!"

Matthew still thought I was being unreasonable. With one command, a group of pack warriors swarmed in. "Drag her inside and make her feed him!"

I struggled desperately, holding my child tight. Who knows what torture he would endure in her hands. "Matthew, I'm your Luna!"

But Matthew looked at me with disdain. "Who knows if anyone saw you when you were a rogue omega? It's just a bit of milk—it won't kill you."

The warriors dragged me into the room and pinned me to the bed. One ripped my dress open while another forced Cassandra's wailing pup to my breast. I was held down like an animal, stripped of all dignity. A tear of pure humiliation rolled down my cheek.

From that moment on, Matthew and I were finished.

When I heard the medical team arriving, I rushed downstairs. Seeing the healer being sent away by Matthew, I screamed with all my might, "Healer! Don't leave! Save my pup!"

Seeing the healer turn back, I ran down holding Asher, but I didn't notice Cassandra's foot right in my path.

She tripped me hard. I held him tightly in my arms, protecting him as we tumbled down the stairs.

The dizzying sensation of falling suddenly stopped. Only then did I realized that my pup, who had been struggling in my arms, was no longer moving. Part of the eggshell had also entered his windpipe and gotten stuck.

With trembling hands, I held my hand near Asher's nose, but there was no breath at all.

The healer hesitated outside the door, but Matthew waved his hand dismissively. "My mate hasn't been mentally stable since giving birth..."

The healer showed understanding, and the sound of the medical vehicle gradually faded away.

I roared in fury, "Matthew, you killed our pup with your own hands!"

Cassandra's pup started crying again. Matthew immediately took him and comforted him personally.

Watching my pup die, Cassandra's eyes flashed with provocation. "Sister must have scared the pup. Let's go quickly."

Less than a minute later, they returned. Matthew threw the bed sheet at my face. "I see you've gotten bold enough to try to escape! Since you're so dishonest, you don't need these legs anymore!"

Matthew left carrying Cassandra's pup.

The warrior skillfully broke my bones. I screamed, "Matthew! You'll get what's coming to you!"

My already numb legs were struck several more times with a silver-tipped rod. I completely lost consciousness.
