Chapter 10

Chapter 10

Seraphina wanted to call out to Kaelen, but he had already walked far away.

This was the first time in the months since her return that Kaelen had left so completely.

Only after Kaelen was completely gone did Seraphina reluctantly return to Alistair's side.

Alistair stared at Seraphina, wanting to speak but hesitating. "Seraphina, Dad knows you used to have feelings for Kaelen, but back then you were the one who gave up on him."

"Now, he's your brother-in-law. You two should keep an appropriate distance, otherwise..."

Before Alistair could finish his words, Lyra interrupted: "Enough, enough. The child finally came home, and you're here to lecture her."

"Our Seraphina is so outstanding. There are plenty of Alphas who want to mate with her. How could she covet her own brother-in-law? Don't say such things anymore. I don't like hearing it."

Lyra pulled Seraphina upstairs, saying dotingly: "Seraphina, Mom brought you many gifts from abroad this time. Go take a look."

......

Croft villa, midnight.

Kaelen had been sitting in the living room. He was waiting for Elara to come home.

Elara had loved him for so many years. He didn't believe she would just leave like that.

Only a dim lamp was on in the living room. Kaelen's appearance wasn't very clear, and his body radiated a thick sense of loneliness.

Suddenly, the electronic lock made a sound. Someone was coming home.

Kaelen's eyes immediately lit up. It must be Elara.

When the door opened, Seraphina's face came into view. The hope in Kaelen's eyes instantly disappeared.

"Why are you here?" Kaelen frowned.

Seraphina was stunned.

Before, Kaelen always complained that their time together was too short. Now he seemed unwilling to see her.

"Kaelen, you're still in the living room so late. Weren't you waiting for me?"

Seraphina came to Kaelen's side, sitting sideways on his lap and actively wrapping her arms around the man's neck.

The moment Seraphina touched him, he instinctively wanted to dodge, but the woman held him tightly.

"Kaelen, what's wrong with you today? You seem strange."

Kaelen was stumped by the question.

What was wrong with him? Didn't he dislike Elara?

Elara wanted to sever their mate bond. He should be happy.

Even if the pup was gone, he could have another one with Seraphina in the future. What was wrong with him?

No, even if they really separated, he should be the one to bring it up.

He had to find Elara.

"Seraphina, has your sister contacted you these past few days?"

The desire that had just ignited in Seraphina was instantly extinguished, though she maintained a composed expression on her face.

"Kaelen, sister has never liked me since we were young. How would she contact me?"

"What's wrong? Has sister gone missing?"

For some reason, Kaelen just couldn't say the words "bond severance."

He made up a random excuse: "She's been throwing a tantrum these past few days and ran away from home. She even changed her phone number."

"Can you help me with something? Ask your parents to help contact her and tell her to come home."

Seraphina's hidden fists clenched tightly, and she nearly ground her back teeth to pieces.

Kaelen continued: "Seraphina, Elara is your sister after all. It's not safe for a she-wolf to be out there alone. Please help me."

Seraphina looked into Kaelen's eyes and saw the worry in them. She couldn't help but ask: "Kaelen, have you fallen in love with her?"

Kaelen's blood instantly turned cold, not knowing how to answer this question.

Did he like her? He didn't know either.

For the past three years, he had grown accustomed to having Elara by his side. Now that she had really left, he found himself quite reluctant to let go.

But Kaelen told himself that he liked Seraphina. What he felt for Elara was more responsibility and guilt.

"Seraphina, the one I like is you. But she is my mate after all, and I don't want anything to happen to her."

"I've never asked you to help me with anything since we were young. This is the first time."

Seraphina's heart gradually sank.

Kaelen had never asked her for anything since childhood, and the only time he did was for another woman.

Seraphina felt vaguely uneasy, and a calculating look flashed in her eyes.

"Alright, I'll have Mom contact sister tomorrow. So how will you thank me tonight?"

Seraphina methodically untied the man's tie, her hand gradually exploring downward.
