Chapter 15
Chapter 15
"Damien, you're finally here."
The tie around my wrist was untied, and I threw myself into Damien's arms.
For the past twenty-five years, I had no one to rely on.
But from today on, I did.
Damien was the person I could depend on for the rest of my life.
"I'm here. No one can bully you anymore."
On the ground, Kaelen's leg had been shot through. Blood kept gushing out, and he was in so much pain he couldn't even speak.
Alistair and Lyra had just recovered from their shock and recognized Damien.
"Alpha... Alpha King, how are you and Elara..."
Even Alistair, a veteran warrior who had navigated pack politics for years, felt intimidated when he saw Damien.
Damien was known as the living King of Hell. His methods in territorial disputes were ruthless, and he showed no mercy to anyone.
Even members of the royal pack wouldn't be spared if they made mistakes.
Damien protected me behind him, his eagle eyes narrowing slightly. "Elara is my chosen mate. She came to the Vance family today to visit her parents, and the moment I wasn't here, she suffered such grievances."
"Should I settle this score with the Vance family or the Croft family?"
As he finished speaking, Damien slightly lifted his foot and stepped on Kaelen's wound.
The living room was filled with Kaelen's agonized screams. "Alpha... Alpha King..."
I frowned at the sound and pulled Damien back. "It's not worth getting blood on your hands for someone like him."
Damien hummed softly and withdrew his foot, looking down at Kaelen with contempt.
Seraphina was completely stunned.
She had stolen Kaelen to live a better life, but I had turned around and found an even more powerful mate.
Why? Why was I always so lucky?
"Alpha King, you probably don't know my sister very well. She's had a crush on Alpha Kaelen since childhood. Are you sure she's with you because of love?"
Seraphina said through gritted teeth.
Any Alpha would feel jealous, especially someone like Damien who was born privileged.
Afraid that Damien wouldn't believe her, Seraphina dragged the rest of the Vance family into it.
"Dad, Mom, you know best how much Sister likes Alpha Kaelen. Isn't that right?"
Lyra's face stiffened for a few seconds before she said, "Yes, Elara has liked Kaelen since she was little. This is something we all know."
Damien's expression visibly darkened.
Seraphina smiled smugly, thinking her words had worked, and continued, "Sister, I know you're angry about what happened between Alpha Kaelen and me, but you shouldn't deceive someone else's feelings."
"Alpha King, I'm sure Sister didn't mean it. Please, for the sake of the Vance family, don't hold it against her too much."
Alistair also put on the airs of an elder and scolded, "Elara, apologize to the Alpha King right now! Do you want to destroy the entire Vance family?"
In Alistair's mind, I had used some tricks to deceive Damien.
Now that Damien knew the truth, he would surely be furious. I had to apologize!
The aura around Damien grew colder and colder. He looked down at me. "So these are your family members."
I suppressed the sadness in my eyes. I should have cut ties with such parents long ago.
I shouldn't have held any hope for them anymore.
"I'm sorry you had to see this."
"This is the kind of family I live in. Even my own biological parents don't like me. I'm quite a failure."
When I said this, Alistair and Lyra's hearts skipped a beat.
After all, I was the Vance family's only biological daughter.
But my personality wasn't very likable, while Seraphina was good at pleasing the elderly couple. Combined with Seraphina's scheming, my parents had grown to dislike their biological daughter more and more.
Lyra frowned and couldn't help but explain, "Elara..."
