Chapter 23

Chapter 23

Lyra released Genevieve's hand, her tone equally unpleasant: "In-law, why do you have to speak so harshly? Seraphina made mistakes, but didn't Kaelen make mistakes too?"

Genevieve said with contempt: "Of course, Kaelen Croft is no good either, so letting the two of them be together is just perfect, isn't it?"

"Either they quietly complete the marking, or they shouldn't even think about being together!" Genevieve refused to budge at all.

Seraphina's eyes flashed. They were willing to mark her, but she wasn't even willing to be marked by them.

But before she could speak, Lyra gritted her teeth and agreed.

"Fine, if there's no ceremony, then there's no ceremony!"

Genevieve sneered: "You've achieved your goal today. Now leave. I don't want to see your whole family right now."

Alistair had never suffered such humiliation. He snorted coldly and left with Seraphina and the others.

After they left, Kaelen slowly spoke:

"Mom, this has nothing to do with Seraphina. It's not her fault. You shouldn't treat her like that."

Genevieve mocked: "Only an idiot like you would believe her. Do you think she really wants to be marked by you?"

"I've already had people investigate what she's been doing abroad all these years. These men are all the big shots she hooked up with, and most of them are mated Alphas."

"And this - the number of times she went to dark magic users to restore her purity is more than the number of times you've been to the pack healer in your entire life!"

"I've been smart my whole life. How did I give birth to such a fool like you!"

"You like her so much? Fine, I'll fulfill your wish. You're no good either anyway, so you two can be locked together forever."

With that, Genevieve turned and left the hospital room.

Kaelen hadn't recovered yet, his head buzzing.

He opened the manila envelope. Every photo inside shocked him completely.

Seraphina usually acted like an innocent flower in front of him, only being a bit more open during intimate moments.

He had always thought Seraphina learned those things specifically for him. Only now, seeing these photos, did he realize she was actually very experienced.

Kaelen gripped the photos tightly, his eyes blazing with hatred.

"Seraphina Vance, how dare you lie to me!"

"I gave up Elara for someone like you!"

"I will never forgive you!"

......

These past few days, I had been busy preparing for the Luna Queen ceremony.

Damien was planning to hold a ceremony of the century for me, spending one billion dollars.

I initially refused, thinking it was too grand.

But Isadora also sided with him, saying: "Many women only have one Luna Queen ceremony in their lifetime. It shouldn't be compromised."

"Besides, Damien has loved you for so many years. If you don't let him make it grand and special, he'll probably be disappointed."

In the end, I agreed.

Since I had already cut ties with the Vance family, there would be no one to walk me down the aisle and give me to the groom during the ceremony.

This issue had been troubling me for several days.

On this day, while Cora was accompanying me to try on ceremonial gowns, Lyra called me for help.

I originally didn't want to get involved in their affairs anymore, but thinking that Lyra had given birth to me after all, I still couldn't bring myself to ignore a life-or-death situation.

"Cora, I need to go back to the Vance family. Let's postpone trying on gowns for today."

Cora pulled at me: "Sister-in-law, the Vance family treated you so badly. Even if something really happened to them, you have no obligation to help them."

I smiled bitterly: "But she did give me life. This time, I'll consider it repaying her for giving birth to me."

Cora frowned: "Then I'll go with you. I don't feel comfortable with you going back alone."

"Alright."

The two of us quickly changed our clothes and had the royal guards drive us to the Vance family den.
