Elara was stunned. "Kaelen, did you also orchestrate what happened to my parents?"

Kaelen shrugged. "Their situation has nothing to do with me. It was Seraphina who did it. She and I are just working together."

"She wanted those two old fools dead, and I wanted to use them to lure you out. We're just partners in this cooperation."

"Despicable!"

In Elara's memory, Kaelen had always been gentle and refined. How had he become like this?

Kaelen didn't get angry but laughed instead. "I am indeed despicable, but at the root of it all, it's because I love you too much."

"Elara, just wait a little longer. The helicopter will be here in half an hour. I bought an island abroad. We'll live there together, just the two of us."

"Didn't you always want to live a good life with me? That dream is about to come true."

Cora, who had been thrown to the ground, woke up at this moment. The first thing she heard upon opening her eyes was Kaelen's delusional rambling.

"Disgusting! A scumbag like you doesn't deserve her! Sister Elara is my sister-in-law. If you know what's good for you, let us go right now. Otherwise, when my brother gets here, he won't spare you!"

Hearing Damien's name, Kaelen's expression visibly darkened.

"All the Blackwood family members are equally annoying."

"Your brother crippled one of my legs, so I'll cripple both of yours. Consider it my return gift to your brother."

Kaelen pulled out a gun from his waist and loaded it.

At this critical moment, Elara screamed, "Kaelen, if you dare hurt her, I'll bite my tongue and kill myself right now!"

Kaelen's finger on the trigger suddenly relaxed. He smiled at Elara. "Fine, I won't shoot. I'll let her go."

Only then did Elara breathe a sigh of relief, but the person who entered through the door made her blood boil with rage.

"Brother Kaelen, are those two old fools dead yet?" Seraphina walked in wearing high heels, her whole body radiating malice.

Elara couldn't help but clench her fists tightly. She questioned word by word, "Seraphina, they treated you so well. How could you bring yourself to harm them!"

"Well? They were good to me only because I knew how to pretend."

"If I hadn't been playing the victim all this time, do you think they would have treated an adopted daughter like me so well? But they're also two idiots, which is why they ended up like this today."

"Actually, considering our past relationship, I could have been less ruthless. But they insisted on marking me to Brother Kaelen, which made me angry."

Before Elara could speak, Kaelen suddenly raised his gun, aimed it at Seraphina's chest, and fired.

Everyone was stunned, especially Seraphina. Her knees gave out and she fell straight to the ground, her face full of shock.

"Weren't we allies? Why?"

Kaelen smiled coldly, looking down at her with contempt. "Allies? Do you think I don't know about all the things you did abroad?"

"If it weren't for you, I wouldn't need to take such extreme measures, taking Elara away to live in exile. So you deserve to die."

"When I approached you, I was just using you. I didn't expect you to be such a gullible fool."

"Now that your task is complete, it's time for you to die."

Kaelen's voice was so cold and ruthless that even Elara felt like she was looking at a stranger.

Seraphina crawled on the ground, trying to escape, but she died before she could crawl out.

Kaelen sneered and called his bodyguards. "Take her body out and feed it to the dogs."
