Chapter 12

Chapter 12

Silas didn't react at first, then quickly rushed to Elara to check on her. Only after seeing she wasn't hurt did he breathe a sigh of relief.

This was the person their Alpha King cared about most. If she got injured here today, everyone present would be in trouble.

Although Elara was startled, she wasn't surprised.

Alistair and Lyra had never liked her. She'd known this for a long time. She just hadn't expected them to give her such a harsh welcome right from the start.

Silas was about to step forward and speak, but Elara raised her hand to stop him. "I'll go in by myself. You all wait by the door."

Elara walked around the broken pieces on the ground and entered the living room.

In the living room, the two elders sat in the main seats, while Seraphina and Kaelen sat to the side.

From the moment Elara appeared, Kaelen's gaze never left her.

Seraphina noticed Kaelen's change. Her fists clenched tight, and she looked at Elara with a hint of hatred in her eyes.

"Father, Mother." Elara stood to the side and greeted them formally.

Alistair's face was dark. "You still have the nerve to call me father? You've completely disgraced the Vance family!"

"Kaelen already told us that you haven't been home these past few days. Where did you go!"

"Elara, you're already a mated woman. You should do what a Luna should do. Look at what you've been doing!"

"What's the meaning of bringing all those royal guards home with you? Are you trying to rebel?"

The angrier Alistair got, the more worked up he became. Seraphina quickly went over to comfort him. "Dad, don't get angry. Sister has always been like this. You'll get used to it."

Elara sneered inwardly. Seraphina was always good at pretending.

She seemed to be comforting him, but she was actually adding fuel to the fire.

Silas outside couldn't stand it anymore. This was the person their Alpha King treasured most. How could she be treated with such injustice?

Perhaps from being around Damien for so long, Silas had picked up some of his presence.

Silas walked in step by step and said sternly, "Mr. Vance, Mrs. Vance, those royal guards outside are carrying gifts for you both. Miss Vance is very devoted to you two elders. Please judge people with your hearts."

Silas was quite old, about fifty-something, around the same age as Alistair and the others.

Hearing this, Alistair's face showed some embarrassment. He glanced at Silas and narrowed his eyes. "Who are you?"

Before Silas could introduce himself, Seraphina eagerly pinned a label on him.

"Sister, is this the kind of person you've been with during your days away from home?"

"Sister, as your younger sister, I shouldn't interfere, but Kaelen is your mate after all. Isn't what you're doing a bit too much?"

Silas felt a chill run through his body and immediately retorted, "Miss Vance, you can't just say anything. I'm just the Captain of the Royal Guard."

Seraphina's eyes flashed with even more disdain. "Sister, I think you're really desperate. You'll take anyone now."

"This guard looks about the same age as Dad. Even if you really wanted to find someone, you should at least find someone younger, right? At his age, he could be our father."

Kaelen had been sitting quietly to the side, saying nothing, but in his heart he was already convinced that Elara had cheated.

From the moment she entered until now, Elara hadn't even had a chance to speak before this group of people had already convicted her.

Before coming here, she still held a sliver of hope for this family. Now it was completely gone.

Elara looked calmly at Alistair and said with self-mockery, "Father, is it that in your eyes, whatever I do is wrong?"

"Since you dislike me so much, why did you acknowledge my identity back then?"
